Crettyard edge local derby to stay second
IN WHAT is always a keenly awaited local derby Ridge took the game to Crettyard with Liam Dunne's speedy advance on the visitor's goal being brought to an illegal halt on the edge of the area. New Oak second string win against Balto boys
FASHIONED AS hard style masters, the New Oak second string knew this would be the sternest of tests against a well-organised Baltinglass outfit whose keeper Paddy Cronin was in sparkling form throughout. New Oak's efforts at peeling the Baltinglass defensive sector open saw Tom Collins set up Colin Nolan shot which was deflected into space by the Baltinglass keeper who made another save when Stephen Hennessy followed up on eleven minutes.
Nurney hit six to stay top
WITH TEN goals and five red cards, this game would seem to have everything, while in truth it was a pretty disappointing affair, both sides doing their best to lose. Villa took a four minute lead when John Miley took advantage of a goalkeeping error to net. Fiacc's recovered well and were back on level terms on eleven minutes. Nicky Brannigan put over a cross which Jamie Parr volleyed home. Nurney regained the lead on 28 minutes, Richard Kearney released Sean Kinsella in space and Kinsella lobbed the Saints keeper from the edge of the area.

Ballymurphy Celtic 1 Slaney Rovers 2: ROVERS MADE the long journey to Ballymurphy worthwhile as they returned to Rathvilly with all three points.
