The game started with both teams enjoying good possession, but not creating any clear cut chances. Town signalled their intent early on with shots by Mark Tuite and Alan MacDonald saved by the Rangers keeper, Richie Mahon. On 20 minutes Josh Doyle's free from the right was powerfully struck by Shane Maye but his shot was headed clear by the last defender, Dermot O'Boyle.
Grange FC get off to a flying start
GRANGE FC 2 ST. JOSEPH'S 0: A DEPLETED Joseph's were porous in defence during the early exchanges. Grange's Paddy Byrne latched onto Gavin Lawler's through ball before beating the advancing keeper Lee Buggle only to see his effort go wide off the post. Grange kept up the pressure with Paddy Kelly rising highest to head the ball goal wards but Jack Lowry cleared the effort off the line on seven minutes.
