Top class field for this year's Rockford Road Race

THE 31st running of this event sponsored by Dan Morrissey Ltd since its inception will be held at 5.30 pm in Tinryland on Saturday next, 28th August.
The organizing committee has gone for a new revamped race with all the usual very high standards being maintained including a few bonuses with a number oftop Irish athletes set to take part on the day. Last years event was won by Latvian Sandis Bralitis with Irish International Linda Byrne taking the ladies section.
This year a huge effort is currently being undertaken to increase the amount of competitors in the race and a special effort to recruit locals, walkers, joggers and runners of all abilities. A unique addition this year is the
Top class spot prizes which will be restricted to non individual prize winners who finish the 4 mile event. Included in these prizes is the opportunity to win a fantastic €1,000 holiday voucher, LCD TV, Digital Camera, Luxury weekend for two and €200 jewellery voucher. After the race anyone who did not win an individual prize will be entered into a draw free of charge and some lucky individuals will win one of these fantastic spot prizes. Up front the athletes will be catered for with cashprizes in all usual Senior Male/Female and Vets categories and teams. An addition to this year's event is a recently purchased 8 Digit Race Clock which will be positioned at the start and finish and will enable all finishers to view their race times. Post race activities include the famed refreshments where a wide selection of food will be available free of charge for all. Race video, presentations, spot prize draw and live music in the local GAA centre.

A mini Rockford will start at 5pm for all juveniles under the age of 15. This is a mile event and will be a mass start with juveniles of all ages competing against each other. This is a fun event with all juvenile finishers receiving medals.
St. Joseph's AFC will also partake in this event as a fundraising venture. So come along and enjoy the last weekend of the summer holidays and enjoy our unique race where we cater for runners and walkers of all abilities.The Mini Marathon will commence at 5 pm with the Main Event starting at 5.30 pm.
