Three in a row for snooker ace Karl

Tuesday July 20 2010

A CARLOW snooker player has just pocketed his third Leinster championship title in a row. Ivy rooms player Karl Fitzpatrick from Riverview Close has bagged the winning trio by coming first in yet another title at the u21 Leinster Championships. The 18-year-old won his first Leinster 21s Championship for the first time in 2008 at the young age of 16 and again in 2009 and has now retained the title.

He has currently made it in to the last 32 in the u19 European Championships in Malta from thousands of entries around Europe.

Nicknamed the cueist of Carlow he has also qualified for the under 19 Irish team for the third year in a row by finishing in the top four in Ireland for the 2009/2010 season and will travel to Pontins, Prestatyn, Wales, for the home internationals in September.

'I would really like to thank Jim and Marion Leacy in the Ivy Rooms for their kindness and support,' said Karl, who trains in the Ivy Rooms. 'They have been really great.'

Karl began playing snooker at just five years of age and now at only 18-years-old he has an amazing career ahead of him in the world of snooker. Karl says the reason he works so hard is because of his great love and passion he has for the game of snooker.
