Successful weekend for Carlow players

Carlow squash players had another very successful weekend of squash at the Leinster Closed Championships held in Dublin last weekend. Titles went to Seamus Harmon U19, Elaine Ware U17, Casey Luther U13, Klara McDermott U11.
The unstoppable Elaine Ware continued her great squash season winning the U17 Leinster Closed title in Dublin this weekend defeating her club mate Fiona O'Keefe 3/0. For Ware this has been an extraordinary season winning all 4 Irish Junior Opens and the Irish Nationals.
There are not too many squash players who have achieved a full 'Grand Slam' in this manner and she now looks forward to representing Ireland at the European Championships next May.
Seamus Harmon followed on from his win at the Carlow Junior Open when he too the U19 boys title defeating Adam McCreevey 3/1. Harmon his really on top of his game these days and is enjoying a period injury free. This group of 3 saw J. Kenny finish 3rd.
Klara McDermott stole the show in the U11 girls section defeating Lilly Lloyd Sutton 3/0. Klara who plays squash with a smile and a fierce determination was much sharper than her opponent and fully deserved her win. Casey Luther's determination took her to victory with a 3/2 win over Stephanie Ryan 3/2 for the U13 girls title.
Another of the young stock making in roads is Jack Doyle who was 3rd in the U11 boys defeating Brian Collins, brother Cian can be pleased with his 12th in the U15 boys ahead of Declan Saruwatari in 14th.
Niamh O'Keefe finished 3rd in the girls U15 and can be happy with here finish and Jemma See took 4th place following a great 3/2 match with Niamh O'Keefe. Shaun Hennessy finished runner up to David Ryan in the boys U15 while brother Cathal in the U17 was 4th losing to Conor Lavin Dublin.
A 5th place for Ryan Luther ensured his place on the U17 boys Leinster team and Shiela O'Keefe 6th in the girls U13.
