Pender comfortable victor in Cardiff
Tuesday March 02 2010
ST. ABBAN'S athlete Barry Pender reminded everyone that one of his favourite venues is the indoor arena in Cardiff when he moved up from his junior exploits of last year to take the senior men's high jump title in the Celtic Cup indoor International.
Clearing 2.10 he was a comfortable victor over his Scottish competitor clearing 2.01 and his Welsh counter part clearing 1.95.
In the senior triple jump Eoin Kelly finished in 2nd place with an indoor best of 14.94 just 26 cms away from 1st, while Francis Egan was a close 2nd in the junior triple jump with 14.07 just 6 cms shy of victory.
This concluded the indoor season for these talented athletes having competed in five different competitions over the past five weeks and performing admirably in all. It's back to the training and the books for the next couple of months and the outdoor season.
