Tuesday February 02 2010
CARLOW Coursing Club have a couple of real contenders at5 this weeks National Coursing Championship in Clonmel.
The Lawlor family race 'Mungo's Classic' in the Champion Stakes while in the prestigious Derby the Carlow hopes lie with Jerry Hutton's 'Prevalence'.
Both dogs are well prepared and Carlow cheers will rent the Powerstown air should either go all the way.
Other local interest surrounds Maurice Rafters 'Coolhill Mossy'who competes in the Derby for the Carlow Coursing Club as does 'Medievil Quarter' owned by Ned and Anna Daly of Crettyard.
The Lawlor family also have 'Mungo's Brief' listed as Reserve A in the Champion Stakes. Tom Lawlor, of course, acted as Judge at the prestigious Clonmel course for many years but will view proceedings from a different angle on this occasion.
