Great success for the O'Toole's club at indoor championships event

ST. LAURENCE O'Toole athletes competed in every category at the Leinster Indoor Championships held in Nenagh over the weekend.
First off on Saturday was Robert Crowley (in the under 12 age category) who took home a gold medal in the 600m final with a brilliant run. Connor Brennan achieved a double: a silver medal in the Long Jump and a bronze in the 60m Hurdles with two fantastic performances while Laura Ward brought home a bronze medal in the 600m final for the girls.
Lauryn Kealy grabbed a gold in the 600m (under 13 age category), while Ross Dunphy was unlucky to miss out on a medal in both the 600m and the 60m Hurdles, taking 5th and 6th places in these events.
Ger Curran and Johnny Furey took first and second respectively in the under 15's Shot Putt. Keith Noctor secured a gold medal in the 60m Hurdles with a fantastic run while Danny Lawlor won a silver medal with a fine performance in the 1500m race (both of these successes were in the under 16 age group).
Hannah Brady and Claire Murphy grabbed three silver medals in the Under 17's between them: Hannah in the High Jump and Claire in both Hurdles and Long Jump.
Paul Byrne ended the day with a gold medal in the 400m and a silver in the Long Jump. All-in-all it was a very successful day of athletics for the O'Toole's club!
Medals were not that rare on Sunday either, with O'Toole's athletes achieving personal bests in several categories. David Lawler battled bravely to achieve a bronze medal in the under 14 walk.
Deanna Kealy secured a silver medal in the under 12 High Jump with a great jump of 1m 21cm.
Lisa Lawler threw a personal best of 7m 79cm in the Shot Putt in the under 18 age category. Robert Crowley won the under 12 High Jump with a fantastic jump of 1m 24cm. Mark Furey won gold in the under 16 Shot with a personal best throw of 14m 7cm.
Lauren Dwyer won the Triple Jump with a new personal best of 4m 73cm. Daniel Lawler won a silver medal in the under 16 800m. Claire Murphy was 2nd in the under 17 Long Jump. Nicole Dowling threw brilliantly to win the under 12 Shot (7m 59cm). Paul Byrne was 3rd in the under 18 200m sprint.
Aideen Brophy achieved 2nd place in the under 18 60m. Emma O'Toole won the under 19 Long Jump. Marcus Lawler secured a double by winning both the 60m & the 200m in the under 16 age category. His sister Grace Lawler won the gold in the under 14 60m sprint. Ruth McDermott secured a bronze in the under 19 200m while Ross Dunphy won a bronze medal in the under 13 60m.
Other athletes from St. Laurence O'Toole's who gave their best over the weekend but missed out on medals were: Shaunna Carr, Eve McCarry, Siobhfra O'Flaherty, Roisin O'Toole, Chole Murphy, Megan Fitzpatrick, Leah Hutton, Beth Fennell, Deanna Kealy, Ciara Eallanan, Owen Scully, Ethan O'Neill, Conor McGrath, Fiona Burke & Daryl O'Brien.
Great credit is due to the coaches & parents who accompanied and supported the athletes from Carlow as they competed at Nenagh.
