Andy Ryan reaches DMAS Leinster final

ANDY RYAN reached the DMAS Leinster Championship final when he defeated his old adversary Paddy Reilly from Kilkenny in the semi final which was played in Monavea last Thursday night.
Ryan played some great handball in the first game when he had Reilly on the back foot for most of the game the Carlowman serve well and when the opportunity arose he put the ball away with precision.The Carlowman won the first game 21-13 and in the second game he continue to use the court to his advantage and won on a scoreline of 21-12. His final opponent will be either Ned Buggy (WX) or John Molloy (D).
In the EMAS John Rossiter came up against Tony Breen from Wexford, in the first game it was ace for ace and they were level at 13 all then Breen got some good spin serves down the left which had Rossiter in trouble and the Wexford man went on to win the game 21-13 the second game followed a similar pattern again Breen got away at 13 all and ran out the winner 21-13.
Eamon Sunderland travelled to Ballymore Eustace to play in the EMBS where he played Gerry McGrath from Wicklow in the first game Sunderland played some good handball but found the Wicklowman a tough opponent and lost out 21-13, the second game McGrath continued to dominate and won 21-9.
Junior Singles
Padraic Townsend was up against the experienced David Hope from Offaly in the Junior singles and found the going tough, Hope was on fire in the first game and ran out an easy winner 21-10, the second game was no different which the Offalyman won 21-3.
Leinster Juvenile
There was some good performances by the Carlow juveniles last Saturday when they travelled to Monavea to take on Laois the winners will travel to O'Loughlins next Sunday 28th Feb at 11am to play Kilkenny in the semi finals.
U-14 S Jim O'Leary (Carlow) beat Donnacha Quinn (Laois) 152, 15-3; U-14 D David Mulhall/Aran Murphy (Laois) beat Joey Curtis/Jim O'Leary (Carlow) 15-12, 15-4; U-15 S Daniel O'Leary (Carlow) beat Keith Nolan (Laois) 21-5, 21-2.
The U-15 D games between Cormac Murphy/Evan O'Carroll (Laois) & Owan O'Gorman/Michael Connors (Carlow) will be played on Wednesday night in Monavea at 8p.m.
Carlow will also have the following players in the semi finals as they received a bye in the first round: Damien Jordan,Alan Hosey, Johnny O'Leary, Paddy Shanahan, Jason Curran, Gavin Power,Jim O'Leary (G) Daniel O'Leary (C) Dan O'Leary, (G), Cian Lawler, Martin Mullins, Martin Casey, Michelle Nolan, Shannon Byrne, Katie O'Neill and Amy Byrne.

Martin Mullins defeated Martin Jordan 21-11 21-3; David King defeated Padraic Townsend 21-12 21-9; Kevin Rossiter defeated Shane Blanche 21-14 21-4; Richard Delaney defeated Colm Nolan 21-9 21-1; Micheal Mullins defeated Brendan Ryan 21-10 21-12; Padraic Ryan defeated Danny Deane 13-21 21-9 2111.
Represented Leinster
Congratulations to Michelle Nolan, Shannon Byrne and Melanie Byrne who represented Leinster in the interprovincial competition played last Saturday in Kingscourt. Leinster were defeated by Connaught but the three Carlow girls played very well on the day and were presented with a special Leinster kit.
Gael Linn Mixed Doubles
Damien Jordan and Shannon Byrne competed well against Wicklow in this U-13 competition played in Garryhill on Sunday. Wicklow had Daniel Curry playing at U-13 who is the current U-11 World Champion and his experience and court craft was too much for the Carlow pair. Shannon won her game well but Damien who is still eligible next year found the the Wicklow lad at the top of his game.
