NAOMH BRID 0-14 MISEAL 0-00: POWERED by a magnificent mid-field pairing of Eric Nolan and Keith Lillis Naomh Brid romped to an impressive trap-to-line victory in the Carlow U-14 B HC final in Dr Cullen Park on Monday evening. Despite playing into the strong wind the Leighlin parish boys eked out a 0-4 to 00 interval lead, three of those points only coming in the closing five minutes of half.

However, on the change-over the maroon clad champions hurled up a storm, throwing over some marvellous points, none better than man of the match Eric Nolan who finished the contest with 0-7 to his name, five from play though his conversion of a free from close to the stand sideline was the score of the day.

Mid-field partner Lillis also contributed two points from play as did hard working James Mulleney while lively Seanie Bambrick was also prominent in attack. A defence that concedes not a single score has to be lauded, team captain Adam Dunne and steady centre-back Padraig Coughlan acting as admirable anchormen. Miseal, despite the ever mounting margin, battled gamely to the end with Paddy Shanahan and Paddy Cunningham heroes in an overworked defence, Damien Jordan steady in goal while further afield Daryl Kelly, Robert Kavanagh and Donal Smithers hurled well against the odds.
