KEVIN RYAN watched a lot of club hurling in Carlow last years, admitting he was on the look-out not so much for the spectacular as 'the steady, solid hurler, composed on the ball,',
'The hurling was very competitive, a lot of emphasis on strength and doggedness though I would like to see an improvement on the scoring rates,' is Ryan's take on the club scene, adding 'an eighth team would improve the championship structure, giving you two groups of four or a Ring-like semi knock-out competition,'.
The manager is happy with the cooperation of the clubs have given to his county set-up and is hopeful that that will continue 2010, a vital year in Carlow's climb up the hurling ladder.
