Players do their bit for Cancer research
Tuesday March 02 2010
FOUR MEMBERS of the Carlow hurling squad are doing their bit for Cancer Research. Shane Kavanagh, Des Shaw, Hugh Paddy O'Byrne and David Miley joined the Shave or Dye brigade to raise funding for the campaign and have persuaded their fellow county players to fill in sponsorship cards.
Shane was asked by Armagh footballer Aaron Kernan to join the effort which was promoted by radio station Today FM.
The Naomh Eoin, who tweaked a hamstring against Westmeath in the Kehoe Cup, did not play with Carlow on Sunday due to his upcoming assignment for the Carlow IT against Tralee IT in the Ryan Cup semifinal in Galway on Saturday. If they win that game they will contest the final the following day.
"I played for the college against Athlone the previous Tuesday, but we're anxious, in this the first year of the GAA degree course, to win the competition for the first time."
