Walshe sisters ready for Dublin horse show

THE STABLES and yard of John and Barbara Walshe from Ballinaguilky in Hacketstown are an exciting and busy place these days as three of their daughters prepare to compete in the RDS Dublin Horse Show, which starts on August 5.
Sharon, who brought great pride to Carlow last year by winning the All-Ireland Amateur Final in great style in the main area on her mount Diamond Pierre is seeking to rekindle the same winning formula and repeat the success this year. However she won't have it all her own way because her sister Lisa will be one of thirty two competing riders who will be seeking the coveted title. Lisa is riding her own mare Punch Clover.
The final of the trio is Tracy, who is riding her younger sister Laura's horse, Glencento in the Future Event Horse Final.
Show jumping and all things equine really is a family affair in the Walshe household. When Pamela, Nicola and Laura aren't competing in the RDS, they enter competitions at schools and regional levels.
John and Barbara are known for their keen eye for breeding and selecting young horses with significant potential. They home-bred Mark Q which will compete in the International seven and eight year old class. Their sharp eye also identified Sharon's mare, as a young three year old in the sales in Goresbridge and Lisa's Punch Clover.
Whatever the outcome for the Walshe's in the RDS, Carlow is proud to have the flag flying high during Horse Show Week with the Walshe sisters.
