Waiting for a 'BIG' letter
Tuesday March 09 2010
BAGENALSOWN Town Council is still awaiting a reply from the local improvement group after they wrote requesting a meeting following a number of complaints raised by the group about the council.
Breda Byrne, the current chairman of the Bagenalstown Improvement Group, wrote a letter to the Town Council at the February meeting after Cllr Tommy Bambrick made an uninvited visit to the home of treasurer Anne Gardiner, requesting information on how grants were being used by the group and the reason for not holding an AGM.
It was agreed at the February town council meeting that a letter be sent back to the Bagenalstown Improvement Group to request a meeting between both parties.
'We have received no correspondence back from the "BIG",' said chairman Denis Foley. 'They didn't answer the last letter from the meeting asking that we meet to discuss the situation.'
He said he was disappointed that a letter was not received during the month.
'They didn't come back to us but they came back quickly enough the last time,' he added.
It was agreed by the members to wait until the next meeting to see what happens.
