Taxi's insurance not displayed
Tuesday March 09 2010
A TAXI MAN who was stopped by gardaí when carrying passengers was fined ¤250 for not having insurance displayed.
Patrick Freeman of Pollerton Little was charged with driving without insurance, the non-display of his insurance, and driving without a licence.
The court heard that he didn't have a licence for a public services vehicle when he was stopped on Tullow Street on May 10 last.
He admitted to gardaí that he was carrying the two passengers as a taxi service. The court heard that his insurance company agreed to cover the taxi service.
Solicitor Joe Farrell said his client had a recent death in his family and is the sole carer of his 94-year-old mother. He asked Judge William Harnett not to impose a ban.
