THERE will be a very special concert to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Aspiro.

It's hard to believe that 15 years have passed since the formation of Aspiro, Carlow's very own world class young people's choir.

Aspiro has had a major influence on the lives of thousands of young boys and girls who joined the choir or were involved in school organised workshops. Promoting the voice as a musical instrument, Aspiro have consistently pushed the boundaries of performance and singing.

Believing in the innate musical potential of all young people and within a policy of equity and inclusiveness, no auditions are held for membership which makes this successful young choir unique.

Under the direction of Mary Amond O' Brien, Aspiro have performed in the United States, Canada, England, Wales, Dole in France, Rome and Prague.

On Sunday evening at 8.30pm in Carlow Cathedral Aspiro will perform a 15th Anniversary Concert featuring approximately 130 past and present members of the choir.

The concert consists of two parts, an Aspiro Retrospective and the Irish Premiere of the renowned Leonard Bernstein's MASS - concert selection. Aspiro will be joined by internationally acclaimed conductor and choral educator Doreen Rao who has adapted Leonard Bernstein's MASS for concert and with whom Mary began her studies with in 1997.

Aspiro will be accompanied by a nine piece professional ensemble to include Piano, Organ, Flute and percussion. Tickets are available through choir members and from Newsworld, Burrin Street Carlow or by email from info@aspirochoir.ie. Adult €12, Concessions €10, U/12 €5 and Family (2+2) €30.
