Sad death of Milan in crash
SECOND ROAD DEATH IN A WEEK LEAVES COMMUNITY IN SHOCK

THE COMMUNITY of Borris is in shock this week following a second road death in the space of a week. Twenty-five-year-old Milan Mican, originally from the Czech Republic and a popular employee at Keenans in Borris, was killed when his Yamaha R1 motorbike collided with an SUV on Saturday morning.
The accident happened on the Bagenalstown to Borris road at Kilcumney Cross. Milan was pronounced dead at the scene while the SUV driver was treated for shock.
Milan had made many friends in the Borris area through his interest in local GAA sports, especially his following of the MLR team.
His remains are reposing in McGuill's Funeral Home, Bennekerry, today, Tuesday before removal this evening to Askea Church, Carlow. His body will be flown home to Rastlavice later this week. THE COMMUNITY of Borris is in shock after the roads claimed a second life within the space of a week.

This tragedy occurred within seven days of an car crash that claimed the life of 17 year old Shane Breen, a student who'd just received his Leaving Cert results from Borris Vocational School.
'It's such a tragedy for the local community here to bury two young men within a week,' Fr. Paddy Byrne, who attended the scene on Saturday morning. ' They're shocked that terrible tragedies like this happen all too frequently. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Milan's family.'
The accident happened on the Bagenalstown to Borris road at Kilcumney Cross when Milan's motor bike hit an SUV, believed to be driven by a local man. Milan died at the scene while the SUV driver was treated for shock. The Yamaha R1 bike was a sports model that Milan brought over to Ireland from the Czech Republic within the past few months.
Milan, who was originally from a village called Rastlavice in the Czech Republic, had worked in Keenan's of Borris since his arrival in Ireland five years ago.
'Milan was very well respected by anyone who worked with him,' Ollie O'Neill, Operations Manager in Keenan's, said. ' He was a great worker and was very good at his job.'
Having previously lived in the Borris area, Milan had made many friends there and through his interest in local GAA sports, especially his following of the MLR team.
