THE PATIENTS of the Sacred Heart Hospital got together for a party and a sing song at the official opening of the hospital's new garden on Saturday.
Long-stay patients Lizzy Ledwidge of Upper Tullow Street and Paddy Tobin of Courtnellan, Borris, had the honour of officially opening the new outdoor area. The garden was developed thanks to money left to the Sacred Heart Hospital by the late Mary Kirwan who was a patient here.
Carlow Lyons Club organised plenty of entertainment to mark the occasion and everyone tapped and clapped along to the steps of the Irish dancers from The Dargan School of Dance.
'It is a lovely garden with different shrubs and flowers,' said PRO Brian McSteen. 'Most of the patients can now sit outside the different wards and enjoy it.
