ORLA FALLON, formerly of the singing sensation Celtic Woman trio, will perform a once off concert in the intimate setting of Tinahely Courthouse.

The Leighlinbridge resident has taken time out of her busy schedule to sing in smaller venues having spent the past year recording and touring her new album, Distant Shore.

The concert, which takes place on September 18, will feature both traditional and popular classics when Orla will be accompanied by a trimmed down band of Fergal Murray on piano and Sinéad Madden on fiddle and backing vocals.

Originally from Knockananna, Orla shot to fame when she joined Celtic Woman with whom she built up a loyal following, especially in America. Now solo, she's currently rehearsing Christmas carols before she heads out to Nashville where she's recording a show with PBS, the TV channel which produces Sesame Street. Early next year, guests such as the Dubliners, Tommy Fleming and the Dublin Gospel Choir will appear with her when she appears on a Paddy's Day special on the same TV station.

During the summer, Orla sold out the National Concert Hall in Dublin so it's advised to book tickets for the Tinahely gig early.

The concert is on September 18 at 8.30 p.m. with tickets, priced €20, being available on (0402) 38529.
