Man caught with drugs twice in one day

A BAGENALSTOWN man who was caught with drugs twice in two days was given the benefit of the probation act when he appeared before Judge David Anderson at last week's sitting of Carlow District Court.

Stephen Nolan ( 24), 9 Eastwood, Bagenalstown was charged with the unlawful possession of drugs at the Blackbog Road on April 26, 2011 and with two counts of the unlawful possession of drugs at 9 Eastwood on April 27, 2011.

The court heard that on April 26 Nolan was caught with € 10 worth of cannabis while on April 27 he had € 20 worth of cannabis and € 30 worth of cocaine.

Acting for Nolan solicitor Brendan O'flaherty said it was Nolan's first time in court adding Nolan was hoping to go to Australia to work.

Judge Anderson gave Nolan the benefit of the probation act and added that such an option would not be available to the defendant again.
