SHE DID US PROUD! Jessica Adamson shone like the star she is when she appeared on stage last week at the Rose of Tralee. The Hacketstown girl looked like she was born to be onstage as she was interviewed by Daithí O Se, much to the delight of her thousands of followers.
'I was a bit nervous before I went on but the minute I saw all the Carlow banners I knew I'd be fine,' Jessica explained.
'After that I could have done ten interviews! The Rose of Tralee was everything I imagined and much more.'
And despite being cited a favourite by both bookies and punters alike, Jessica isn't at all disappointed that the London rose was the one who ended up with the crown.
'All of us, all the girls, said that we all had a ball and that we'd be happy for whoever got the prize,' Jessica continued. ' The highlight must have been the parade on Saturday night when there were fireworks and people were shouting out your name. It was a bit like being a celebrity, it was magical.'
Jessica's schedule over the week in Tralee was so hectic that she hardly saw her family at all but she did get a chance to drop into her designated pub, The Brogue, where she promptly joined a troupe of trad musicians for a couple of songs
The Adamson family stayed in Kerry all week after the competition with Jessica herself heading back to Hacketstown last Friday.
She spent the weekend resting ahead of her return to work as a teacher on Wednesday.
That's when she'll trade the tiaras and the ball gowns for copy books and the chalk as she welcomes the smallest junior infants into Knockananna for the first time.
'It's a bit of an anti-climax to leave Tralee,' she concluded. 'It was all absolutely unbelievable and even better than I thought, but to be honest, it'll be nice to get back to normality.'
