Great sorrow as Margaret loses fight against illness

Tuesday March 09 2010

THE COMMUNITIES of Killeshin and Myshall were saddened this week to learn of the passing of 47-yearold Margaret McGee from the Killeshin Road, a vivacious and fun loving woman.

She passed away on Wednesday leaving behind her loving husband Pat, who is well known through Killeshin GAA, her daughters Michelle and Catherine and son Tom.

Margaret comes from a well known and respected farming family and was the daughter of Jim Nolan and the late Breda Nolan and was the ninth of twelve children. She is survived by her six brothers and five sisters James, Michael, Tom, Patrick, John, Billy, Catherine, Bríd, Ann, Mary and Teresa.

She married Pat McGee of Ballymurphy in 1988 and the couple lived here until 13 years ago when they relocated to the Killeshin Road.

Over the years she worked in Brian Kehoe's and at Independent Analytical Services (IAS) in Bagenalstown before she left work to mind her children. Margaret went back to education at the VEC to study holistic health and she began practising as a holistic health therapist. She worked in the Greenbank gym in the Seven Oaks Hotel doing Indian head massage, back massage and reflexology. Margaret loved her work here and continued to work until she was diagnosed with cancer in February 2007.

She loved mountain and hill walking and walking the roads around Carlow. She loved music and dancing and was often the first one on the dance floor and the last one standing shouting ' more, more, more.'

She loved her family more than anything else and was at every football, soccer and basketball match cheering on her children from the sidelines. She travelled to every rowing regatta and community games event in Mosney shouting her support.

She was removed from her residence on the Killeshin Road on Thursday evening to arrive at Killeshin Church for requiem Mass on Friday followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

She will be missed by all who knew her but in particular but her loving husband Pat, her daughters Michelle and Catherine, son Tom, father Jim, brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives and many friends.
