Driver was 'momentarily distracted'
A TEACHER who was 'momentarily distracted' was given the benefit of the probation act when she appeared before Judge David Anderson at last Wednesday's sitting of Carlow District Court.
Maire Kelly (23) Haroldstown, Tullow was charged with driving without reasonable consideration at the Hacketstown Road on March 4, 2011.
Inspector Martin Walker said gardai went to a two vehicle collision on the day in question and Kelly admitted causing the accident having averted her eyes momentarily. Acting for Kelly solicitor Deirdre Coleman said Kelly admitted at the scene she was 'momentarily distracted'. She said Kelly was a 23-year-old teacher who is currently covering maternity leave.
Judge Anderson gave her the benefit of the probation act.
