Discussing the library over coffee
A COFFEE morning and presentation of prizes took place in Tullow Library on Thursday morning when both young and old alike entered a competition entitled ' What the Library means to me'.
The competition gave scope to young budding artists and writers to create a picture or write a short story based on personal experiences and memorable occasions in the Tullow library.
Laura Murphy and Stuart Phelan scooped the prizes in the essay section while in the art category, Sienna Dunne come first. John Patton, Assistant Librarian, presented the trio with their awards and thanked all the entrants for their hard work.
Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, William Paton commended the staff and the services that they provide.
' The staff here are brilliant and very imaginative,' he said. ' The services provided are much more than just borrowing books, there are internet services, DVDs, CDs and lending too.'
The old Tullow library has been transformed from once being 'size of a shoe box' and now plays a central role in the community, Cllr. Paton pointed out.
