Con artist pretending to be a plumber

GARDAI ARE warning people to be wary of a con artist who is operating in the Carlow area. A man, who passed himself off as a plumber, called to a house in St Mary's Park on Friday evening and told the occupant that he wanted to check for a leak upstairs as he was working on the house next door.
He asked permission to check out the upstairs of the house as the pipe next door had burst and was given permission but accompanied by the owner of the house.
When they were upstairs the house owner heard knocking downstairs and when he went to investigate he found a number of males rummaging through his kitchen.
The incident occurred between 8 p.m. and 8.20 p.m.
'We are asking people to be careful,' said a spokesman for the gardai.
