Carlow Jobs Club will get you off the mark

It's busy times at Carlow Jobs Club on Dublin Street where courses are run on a monthly basis to help people with CVs, interview techniques and developing skills.
Coordinator Valerie Reddy says the club runs a programme three mornings a week at the old library building to help members with cvs, cover letters, application forms and possible interview questions.
' It's about a group of people who get together to learn skills and get back out there,' said coordinator of Carlow Jobs Club Valerie Reddy.
A new programme is about to start and already 27 people have signed up.
' We offer one to one support also and ongoing support to people who might come back looking for help if they have an interview coming up.'
Participants are given € 60 to help with expenses when they are taking part in the programme which is funded by FAS.
' We get people from all backgrounds here. You have to be registered with FAS so it's for people aged 16 and up,' she added.
Carlow Jobs Club was first established eleven years ago and Valerie took on the role of co coordinator five years ago.
' It has always been busy,' she added. 'At the beginning we had a lot of non nationals taking part but in more recent times the majority of participants are Irish. '
Located at 40 Dublin Street ( at Cox's Lane) she stresses that there is also help available for people looking for a job.
The club provides free-of-charge photocopying ( CVs and other documents needed to get a job), access to newspapers with job adverts as well as the Internet available at CRISP in Castle Street. Contact Carlow Jobs Club on 059 9135534.
