TINRYLAND
GAA NEWS For the first time in 5 years Tinryland have qualified for the knockout stages of the Carlow S.F.C. Competing in a very difficult group Tinryland defeated Old Leighlin, Mount Leinster Rangers and Ballon and shared the spoils with Fenagh to finish 2nd in their group and set up a quarter final tie with Co. champions Rathvilly.
This game will take place in Dr. Cullen park on Saturday 18th September.
At juvenile level the U16 team put up a good show before losing out to a very strong Eire Og team in the Co. (A) final. The U14 team were in action in their Co. final against Michael Davitts last evening (Monday) while both U12 teams also reached Co. finals this season. The recent winners of the supporters club draws for July and August were Fr P.J. Byrne PP Kilcock and Liam Foster.
AUTUMN LEAGUE
The 31st annual Tinryland AC Autumn Fun Road League sponsored by Jason Farrell Sports will commence on Wednesday, September 8th, with a two-mile stage starting in Tinryland at 7.30 pm. This will be followed by 2 further stages with the second taking place on Wednesday September 15th at 7 pm over 5km with the final stage over 2 miles taking place on Friday September 24th at 7 pm.
The league is open to runners, joggers and walkers alike and also incorporates an inter firms, groups and organisations league with 3 per team. After the final stage there will be prizegiving and refreshments in Rathcrogue Centre with prizes to all those who complete 3 stages. Certificates with times will be given to all finishers. All courses are accurately measured with league results posted on the club website after each event.

FAMILY FUN DAY
The very popular Tinryland juvenile G.F.C. family fun day will take place on Saturday next 11th September at 2 pm. Once again it promises to be a fun filled day of activity for all the juvenile members of the club and their families. Among the activities on the day will be Bouncy castles, Pony rides, Face painting, tug o war, rounders and football games for all ages. A Bar B Q will be held throughout the afternoon also. Admission on the gate will ensure that all activities inside are free.
FIELD DAY
The parents and children of Bennekerry National School with the support of the Principal , Pauline Barrett and staff are busy finalising the details for their 11th Annual Field Day in Duckett?s Grove on September 12th.
There will be the usual stalls ,Wheel of Fortune, Bottle Stall, Win (yet another) goldfish, books, cakes, bric a brac and some surprise ones with great prizes all thanks to the support of local businesses.
A competitive football match will take place between the two great rivals PALATINE and EIRE ÓG as the under 6s show how its done, followed by a Tug of War. How would you like to own a collectors item?
A hurley signed by the famous Kilkenny Team of 2010 . Serious bidding will take place for this item at our auction at 4pm .Gates open 1.30pm . Gate prize is a overnight stay for 2 in Kilkenny at the Beautiful Pembroke Hotel . Entry only 2.00 per adult. Children free. Ample Free Parking available.
PARENT AND TODDLER
Tinryland Parent and Toddler Group will meet every Wednesday morning from 9.30am till 11.30am, in the Parish Hall. Parents are very welcome to drop in for a friendly chat and a cuppa, while their children have the opportunity to play.
WEIGHT CLASSES
5 new unislim weight loss classes start on Friday at The Talbot Hotel, Carlow Class times are 8am,9.45am,1pm,6pm & 7pm. All welcome.
