Special Needs Education courses

Tuesday January 27 2009

PORTOBELLO Institute, formerly Portobello School, one of Ireland's leading private third level colleges is continuing its long standing relationship with Carlow Town this year with two of its FETAC approved Special Needs Education courses. The courses are undertaken on a part-time basis, 1 night a week, with the Special Needs Education Certificate delivered over 16 weeks and the Diploma delivered over 20weeks.

The Special Needs Education certificate is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to care for those with special needs in an educational setting or in the home. The course is suitable for anyone with an interest in Special Needs Education, including parents, and is an excellent starting point for further training in an extremely rewarding field.

This year Portobello are proud to announce the running of their FETAC level 6 Special Needs course, which offers students who have completed the level 5 Certificate course the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and progress as an Special Needs Assistant by gaining a FETAC level 6 Component Certificate in Special Needs Teaching Skills.

Portobello School was established in 1981 and is widely regarded as one of Ireland's foremost childcare and special needs education training colleges. Graduates from its courses go on to work in areas such as private care, primary schools, Montessori schools, and special needs care centres. As places are limited early registration is highly recommended.
