STORYTELLERS YOUNG and old gathered in the George Bernard Shaw Theatre on Thursday for the first in a series of monthly recitals. Local performers and special guests from Killeshin NS entertained the crowd at the sold-out session in the bar of the theatre.

The storytelling sitting will now become a regular event in the George Bernard Shaw theatre, where the group plans to meet once a month to share stories and song.

'With a bit of luck it will go off just as well in April,' said spokesman John McDarby. 'There were some very talented children from Killeshin NS performing on the day on the piano and fiddle and singing.

'We had a very good audience, a capacity crowd. We hope that this will eventually grow into a tourist attraction.'

The group is made up of a number of talented locals including Sean O'Rourke, Tony Dooley, Paddy Burke and John Hickey.

Optician Bernard Jennings joined in the fun at Thursday's session and he read a piece by local man Brendan Harding.

'It was really well received,' he added. 'It is great to see that building being used and talent like this take part.'
