AWARD WINNERS

The Area 6 Graiguecullen Community Games were awarded the Perpetual Trophy this week at the County Community Games A.G.M.

The trophy was awarded for the greatest participation in all different activities, with team and individual events. Area 6 Chairperson Paul Doogue accepted the trophy with great pleasure and would like to thank all who was responsible for making this happen, managers, trainers, parents and most of all the children for taking part. National Community Games also will be awarding the area, on the November 21 in Ballinasloe. Anyone who would like to go to the awards are very welcome just contact: Paul on 087 6121666.

YOUTH AWARDS

Any Secondary School Senior Cycle Student who would like to apply for the John Paul II Youth Awards are asked to contact Caitríona Kelly at 085 1450321 or the Parish Office as soon as possible for application forms.

CONFIRMATION

The Third week of our Parish Preparation Programme takes place next weekend with special Masses at 10.15 a.m. in Holy Cross and 11.30 a.m. in St. Clare's.

SPECIAL MASS

A Mass to remember people who have died at St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny will be held this Wednesday November 11 at 7.30 p.m. in St. Clare's Church.

The Service is being organised by the Care of the Dying Person and their Family Committee, St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny. All are welcome.

COMMUNITY GAMES

There is U-12's Football Training in St. Fiacc's Hall on Wednesday nights from 7 to 8 p.m. Cost is ¤1.

THANK YOU

Fr. Liam Lawton wishes to thank all who attended the launch of his new Book 'The Hope Prayer' recently. He also expresses sincere thanks to all who helped in any way to make the night such a huge success.

There will be signed copies of his book available at the Parish Centre, Graiguecullen from Thursday next November 12.Proceeds from all books sold will go to the Parish Centre.

NOVEMBER DEAD LIST

The names of the faithful departed who you would like remembered and would like them to be prayed for during November can be handed in the Parish Office or left at the alter in St. Clare's or Holy Cross churches.

A sheet and envelope are provided in the box of church envelopes or alternatively any sheet and envelope will suffice. All the lists will be placed in our November Sacred Space and will be prayed for at all masses during November.

KNOCK SHRINE

There is a day trip to Knock and Our Lady Queen of Peace House of Prayer Achill on Saturday November 14 for a day of prayer and healing. Bookings Phone Tommy at 087 7705974.

BEREAVEMENT MASS

The Annual Mass where we remember all from our Parish who died during the past year and all family members of parishioners who died elsewhere will be celebrated on Friday November 27 at 7 p.m. mass in St. Clare's.

Tickets are available for the Friends of District Hospital Christmas Draw on December 21, from Committee members or at the Hospital. The Friends would like to thank everyone who has supported them in the past.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT

The Fr. Liam Lawton Christmas Concert in aid of St. Fiacc's House will be held in St. Fiacc's Hall on December 20. Tickets are available from the Parish Centre, St. Fiacc's House, Askea Parish Centre and the Seven Oaks Hotel. Cost is ¤25 per person

AL-ANON

If you or a family member or friends are affected by someone else's drinking. You can get support at Al-Anon family group meeting in the Graiguecullen Parish Centre every Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

OISIN HOUSE

There is a Ceili on Friday November 13 commencing at 9.30 p.m. with music by the Copperplate Ceili Band. Admission is ¤10 and refreshments will be served.

A series of five Rhythmic one-day workshops in Oisin House, Killeshin, Rooted Rhythms with Caitríona Nic Ghiolla Phádraig, starts on Sunday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. costing ¤75 for each workshop including lunch. Set Dancing classes are every Thursday night from 8.30 p.m. Beginners welcome. Admission is ¤5.

TABLE QUIZ

A table quiz in aid of the Love Shack Education programme, Kenya and the Vincentian Lay Missionaries will take place on Thursday November 19 in Carpenters Lounge, Barrack St. at 8.30pm.

This quiz is being run in conjunction with Fair-trade Carlow and the Chic and Cheerful Charity Shop, Carlow. Please come along for a great night's fun and support a great cause. Tables of 4 are ¤40 per table.

TALK IT OVER

Talk It Over Carlow, is a free confidential, non-judgmental service provided to those bereaved, our listeners are fully trained and available to those requiring a listening ear.

PEER SUPPORT

Graiguecullen/ Killeshin Rainbows Group is offering a 14-week Peer Support Programme for young people who have experienced loss through the death of a close relative, separation or other painful change in their family, commencing mid-November. LA LECHE LEAGUE

La Leche League Carlow will hold the monthly informal meeting on Thursday November 19 at 10.30 a.m. in 32 Cill an Óir, Graiguecullen. The topic is "Avoiding Common Difficulties".

REFEREES COURSE

Would You Like A Challenge? A Referee Beginners Course takes place in the Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow on Saturday/ Sunday November 14/15 commencing at 10.30 a.m. each day. This is a new type course with the emphasis on practical and interactive participation. It is open to Men and Women over the age of 16 years of age. It will be facilitated by Michael Walsh, Referees Assessor, Carlow and will encompass the latest EUFA, FAI and NCTC methodologies.

Support Systems will be in place to help and advise them in their refereeing and a Licence will be forwarded on completion of a set number of games.

The course will be ¤50 to all participants and includes all materials and FAI Referee Registration fees for Season 2008/09.
