Budding tennis stars having fun

Tuesday July 27 2010

CARLOW'S BUDDING tennis stars of the future have been honing their skills at a summer camp at Carlow Lawn Tennis Club. The county may have its very own answer to Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer in the future judging by the skills on show in recent weeks.

Over 100 local children aged from 6 to 17-years-old have been taking part in the Shreddies Park Tennis Camp, which involves an hour of training every day for two weeks.

' They're having a fabulous time and it's great fun,' said a spokesperson for the club, adding that the coaches are not just focusing on the strokes, but all aspects, from footwork to agility, are being covered during the two weeks.

The next Shreddies Park Tennis Camp takes place from August 9 to 20 and costs just €20 for the two weeks. For further information call Carlow Lawn Tennis Club (059-9143775) after 6 p.m. or visit www.parkstennis.com
