MEN OPTED to dye for charity and transform their locks at Plush hair salon on Tullow Street in Carlow.

As part of the Shave or Dye campaign for cancer research and care the lads had their heads dyed orange, red, purple and black. Manager Rebecca Delaney welcomed her four brothers and father in to the salon on Tuesday when they volunteered to take part.

There was a rainbow ensemble around the table that evening as her brothers donned new red, purple and stripy dos and her father turned his grey head in to a fashionable brown.

'We had three elderly men in who dyed their grey hair brown and black,' said a spokesman for the salon. 'They actually looked great – it took 15 years off of them,' she said.

Hair stylist Andrea Byrne's mother was brave enough also to take part and she went for a pretty pink.

'We put in some crazy colours and everyone was great to take part. We don't know how much was raised yet but we want to thank everyone for supporting it.' she added.
