BAGENALSTOWN WILL get two new defibrillators for the community thanks to the efforts of the local Family Resource Centre.

More than €3,500 was raised on Sunday at the family fun day when families pulled together for a barbecue and day out at Moneybeg. One of the defibrillators will be installed on a wall on the Main Street and will be available to everyone in the community and the second will be located at the childcare and community centre.

'More than 100 families were represented on the day out and we had a brilliant time,' said project manager at the centre Ann Shorthall. 'We had a bottle stall, bouncy castles, face painting, obstacle courses and games for the children.

'We had a barbecue that was just brilliant, a cake stall, tug of war, fancy dress, dog show, bric-a-brac and so much more.'

The children took part in novelty games also and Luke Elliott won the impossible at the lowest dart score competition while locals Aisling Reddy and Philip Jacob cooked up a treat on the barbecue.

'We had a great day and want to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the event, sponsors and everyone who came along on the day,' she added.
