Sugar Factory back in business
A CARLOW Sugar Factory is back in business - because that's the rather witty name for a new local band. Singer-songwriters Eric Butler and Gala Hutton have teamed up with local violinist Micheál Bolton to form the new outfit and have already recorded a six-song EP called Pulp.
Following along the lines of food metaphors, Gala says that the songs crafted by Eric and himself are mouth-wateringly enticing and are like a chocolate box of delights to chose from.
Eric has been performing for years as a singer/songwriter while Gala's previous bands include 77 Cortinaz and Azure Days while Micheál's musical educational is broad enough to embrace both classical and traditional.
Sugar Factory are joined by groove meisters Eamon Burke on drums and Mark Condron on bass and you can see them for yourself when they launch the EP on Saturday, February 20 at 8 p.m.
