Carlow band hopeful of Guinness chance
CARLOW BANDS are in the running to be part of the line-up for the Arthur's Day celebrations alongside established international acts. Guinness have confirmed that Arthur's Day, which proved so popular last year, is back on Thursday, September 23, with lots of events taking place throughout the country.
Guinness are looking for 100 up and coming Irish acts to be part of the Arthur's Day line up and every Thursday from mid July through to early August, will be running music events, called 'Our Thursdays', in pubs across the country, giving emerging Irish music acts the opportunity to showcase their talents.
Beef Supreme, the popular Carlow five-piece, got their opportunity last Thursday night in Teach Dolmain, where they entertained the punters with their 'folkabilly' acoustic rock.
From the 100 emerging acts, three will be chosen to play in Galway, Cork and in the Guinness Hopstore at St James' in Dublin Gate Brewery on Arthur's Day alongside international artists including Snow Patrol.
