77 Cortinaz are back on the music scene
Tuesday September 07 2010
YOU just can't keep a good thing down and proof of that is the re-emergence of Carlow band, 77 Cortinaz.
Featuring original members, Gala Hutton, Darren O'Neill and Cormac Strain, the band have resurrected a series of jamming tracks recorded before their split two years ago.
Two new band members, Mick Bolton on electric fiddle, used as a lead guitar through various effects racks, and MacroGrizzly keyboardist Karen O'Neill will complete the reformed line-up.
After their split, Cormac went on to form Macrogrizzly while Gala worked with the aptly titled outfit, Sugar Factory.
Now the lads are back together to gig and release a new album of material, the origins of which were set down during the recording of the band's first album, Hopioki. These 22 tracks will be made into a live set with ten of those to be recorded and released as an album in the summer of 2011. The band will officially reform and start gigging in January 2011.
